I am at present here in Townsville attending my regular cancer check up. I return to Port Moresby on Tuesday.
Our one and only Public Denistry Clinic at the UPNG /University Of PNG Medical Faculty situated at the Port Moresby General Hospital grounds , is in difficulties due to their Autoclave having ‘given up the ghost’ and a shortage of all sorts of other equipment. Our Rotary Club of Boroko (Port Moresby) is looking at trying to assist as this is the only clinic where the ordinary Papua New Guinean can go for dental treatment.
I have tracked down some companies that provide equipment including in China. A new Autoclave would appear to be out of the question as simply too expensive for our club. The Government Health Department, the University and the Hospital have all simply ignored their requests for help which is typical. Have you got any suggestions as to where or what we might do to find an Autoclave.
