Our Rotary Falls Prevention Project committee (from Lismore West and Lismore Networking Clubs) is currently preparing to put forward a proposal to Rotary Regional Council for endorsement. As our population ages, the Rotary Falls Prevention Project aims to improve the wellbeing of Australians and relieve mounting pressure on our health system. The Project undertakes letter-writing campaigns, community awareness activities and media events to help reduce fall-related injuries and improve the quality of life for older adults. Rotarians are uniquely placed to reach citizens, engage in conversations and share the falls prevention message in their communities. Simple, everyday falls prevention actions: such as getting a nightlight, doing some physical activity, good nutrition, removing trip hazards and making sure your shoes are safe, may help an older person avoid significant trauma and an expensive public hospital bed. We are seeking to discuss the project with Rotary specialists to understand where the project could be strengthened and what advice you could offer ahead of our proposal development. If this is of interest to you/a fit with your skills, we would be interested to meet with you virtually by teams or zoom on either Tuesday 13 August or Tuesday 20 August. Thank you for your consideration, Kelly
