Dear Andrea, I’ve been a member since 1972 and was Charter member of the first Interact club in NZ, 1963. Youth Director of my club now. Project; To Transform a local “Low Decile Primary school” with a large Polynesian student base plus some refugee students from struggle street, to success. They say it takes a village to raise a child so we take that literally. With access to Rotary’s huge infrastructure we intend to support the school, its staff, students and their families. Stage 1. Provide Rotary Readers from the community – retirees, Interactors (large club with 60 members), and others. Start with Year 3 and stay with them to year 13. Stage 2. Fund testing for neuro diversity, especially Dyslexia, ADHD then provide support, we access to excellent support. Stage 3. Establish pathways to Rotary programmes – Interact, RYE, RYPEN, RYLA etc and Outward Bound Stage 4. Use Rotarian links to local Employers, Educators and Trainers to assist our students adult family members to Employment, Training or further Education. Establish continuing development of this Project, called “Imagine Better”. I saw your profile and thought, Why don’t I run this past Andrea?
