Hi Peter.
We had a Board meeting today and came to a juncture. Can you please clarify the process for chartering as a club with registered charity status and as an Incorporated Society?
So far our board has:
1. Acquired a Rotary Club Constitution and created our bylaws (awaiting ratification from members)
2. Acquired the NZ Business Number application form and see we need to have a Trust Deed.
The next steps are unclear. Our understanding is that we must:
1. Register with the NZ Charities Services which will require a Trust Deed.
2. Register with Companies Office as an Incorporated Society.
We would appreciate your advice on how to progress this new club formation.
Also, as I mentioned at conference, it would be good to have clear guidelines as to what matters are dealt with at Trust Board meetings and those that are dealt with at Incorporated Society Board meetings.
Look forward to reading your words of wisdom.
Cheers
